Get This on My Chest(s): everyone should own at least one piece of painted furniture; consider these two cases in point.

Here are two contrasting pieces of furniture: one is an antique chest stripped and painted to look like a Tyrolean folk craft, and the other is a contemporary creation of a furniture maker painted in a cool modernist interpretation of Islamic calligraphy. What is similar in both is the thin, stain-like application of paint which preserves the character of the wood.

Materials: acrylic paint and acrylic mediums on wood.
