Naples Noblesse Oblige: the Old Collier Club looks like old families and old money and they like it that way.
South Florida architecture and design often has all the style and grace of a flashy casino so the Old Collier Club in Fort Myers stands out as a property that looks blue-blood and old money. In fact this country club looks like someone's old yet classical house that was turned into a place for a select group which is exactly what the members wanted. My work there is a simple but effective painting of palms lining a hallway. I chose the king palm Archontophoenix cunninghamiana for my allée because I like their slender trunks that end in a showy spread of fronds. The painting is done in warm sepia tones which are framed by woodwork painted a cool dull green.
Material: acrylic on heavy weight muslin.
