Grand Texan Hacienda: sleep in this gilded, polychromed bed with Pontormo.
In Texas everything's bigger, they say. And so this elaborate painted bed is just one of many I painted for a Texas Tycoon's ranch. In fact the piece was destined to be placed in a guest room. A guest room! The style is Spanish Colonial and so the motifs are essentially Renaissance inspired. The dramatic and soulful figures are copies after Jacopo Carucci (May 24, 1494 – January 2, 1557), known as Pontormo.
Materials: acrylic, oil, and gold leaf on wood
